Verzenay is my go to comfort spot in Chicago. I have been to bakeries all around the world, and Verzenay beats them all. Every single item they sell is incredible. I never have the same order at this store because there is so many amazing items to try. You are missing out if you haven't been here yet!

This was a really great brunch for us. Verzenay's pastry, no matter how it's configured, couldn't be better. The Savory Croissant is delicious, and the Kouign Amann is sublime. And the Chicken Salad Croissant Sandwich? Best chicken salad there is, on the best croissant.
Plus, the coffee is great.

The almond croissant was ok, but too sugary, I ordered two loaves of challah, but receieved two other loaves. Shared one with my neighbor.
Instead of replaceing I should receive a refund of $30. IMO Coffee was great and also the chocolate eclair, but too small.

I had read people raving about Verzenay's Pistachio escargot on a Facebook group and man were they right. It was crispy, nutty, flaky and so delicous. I warmed it up in my air fryer for a couple minutes and it tasted fresh from the over. I was also craving chicken soup and that was equally delicious, the broth was warm and flavorful. My only minor complaint is it left me wanting 5 more bowls as the cup was quite small. I really hope they can come out with a larger size as I'd definitely order it again.
