I ordered the teriyaki bowl with katsu chicken and brown rice and I added some avo. The bowl had amazing color and freshness and the ratio of chicken to veg to rice was very nice! There wasn't enough teriyaki sauce though, so it was a little dry, and my 'steamed' veggies were more like very al dente veggies. I also have enough brown rice and veggies for another meal lol, but I'm not complaining. The katsu chicken was executed perfectly! The breading was thin and it still came to me nice and warm and crispy! I would order this again as long as I have extra teriyaki sauce on hand !

The rice on Mama Kathy's Teri Chicken is a wet mush ball, way over cooked. The chicken is dry, over cooked and there is very little teri sauce.
The mac salad is very bland.
The Chinese chicken salad is a very small portion compared to how it was and not worth $19.
Pono's used to be good, we are very disappointed today.

Price to potion is low, granted might be the door dash cut. The Kal Bi Korean Short Ribs were great, but I'll stick with L&L for Katsu, Musubi, or Mac Salad. In house I'm sure they are good. For delivery the CHICKEN KATSU loses hold on the breading quickly, the KALUA PORK MUSUBI just doesn't land when flavors settle, and bit too much texture for the Macaroni Salad . Would 100% recommend the Kal Bi Korean Short Ribs they hold up best for delivery. Not likely to door dash them again, but worth a pickup or dine in.

There was a time in years past where I was always"EH" about Pono's food.
Well, let me tell you, in the last few years they've really perfected their game and brought in some great cooks because their food is on point and it's delicious and they give you a lot. You will not leave hungry. I highly recommend the loco moco or the teriyaki chicken plate. Coupled with perfect al dente white, sticky rice, and their can't-be- beat, Hawaiian-style macaroni salad, it's pretty much amazing. And it won't break your bank.

The portions are much SMALLER than their Capitola location. I'm born and raised in Hawai’i and scape of cabbage totaling 5 or 6 pieces does not constitute a true rendering of Kalua Pork and Cabbage. Disappointing. If you're going to represent Hawaii's local line grinds- do it right or don't do it at all. Sorry but no Aloha on this meal.
