• 5/26/25Their molokheya is the reason istarted growing molokheya leaves in my garden. I cant get enough of the stuff and now Iwant to grow my own. Also the lemon mint drink is really refreshing!

• 9/5/25By far, the best egyptian/mediterannean food that I've had in Houston. This is an authentic restaurant that tastes as it would back in Egypt. The Ox Tail was incredible and fatty. The mixed grill was grilled to perfection. The bread for the hawawshi was soft yet crunchy with fresh meat inside. This is my new favorite spot to order, and the owner is great with packaging the food for delivery. Highly recommend trying an assortment of items, but the portions are very fulfilling. You can tell that the food is freshly cooked upon order and hot when it arrives, which is very important for me. 10/10

• 7/18/25Stepping into ElHelmya Restaurant is like opening the door to a fragrant memory—one steeped in spice, warmth, and stories told through food. This is not just a meal, but a return to the soul of Egypt.
The Koshary, a humble dish elevated to art, arrives layered with intention—rice, lentils, pasta—each grain and spiral whispering tradition. A drizzle of vinegary tomato sauce and a sprinkle of golden onions crown it like a hymn sung at sunset. One bite, and you remember that comfort has a flavor.
Then comes the Molokhya with rice and chicken, deep green and glossy like an emerald lake at dusk. Its aroma—earthy and warm—coats your senses as the tender chicken falls apart at the touch of a fork. This is a dish that hugs you from the inside.
The Hawawshi, sizzling from the oven, greets you with a bold perfume of coriander and spice. The crisp bread encases seasoned beef like a well-kept secret, one that bursts with each bite. It’s street food elevated—honest, loud, and unforgettable.
No visit is complete without tasting the Mombar, Egypt’s stuffed treasure. The rice, seasoned just right, is tucked inside a delicate casing, then fried to golden perfection. It crackles slightly between your teeth, a culinary lullaby sung by generations.
And oh—the Kebda Eskandarani. Spicy Alexandrian liver that dances on the tongue with cumin, garlic, and chili. It's a fiery ode to the coast, where every bite feels like the call of seagulls over the Mediterranean.

• 3/3/26I greatly enjoyed the beef trotters with stuffed grape leaves. The trotters were flavorful and well cooked. Portion size was great too and. I will definitely order this again. I don't like trotters dripping with fat and these met my taste. Another item that I loved were the pickled eggplant. The taste was very good. They included a generous portion of fresh bread. Unfortunately for me I couldn't eat them as they are made with all purpose flour but they

• 11/7/25The pigeon crust was ok but the rice inside of it was overcooked like mushy. Considering the price of that pigeon and that I had a friend try it for the first time per my recommendation. Such disappointment. The molokheya consistency was good but taste was nothing like Egyptian molokheya.
